Stoptober, the 28-day stop smoking campaign from Public Health England (PHE), is back for 2019. The campaign has encouraged over 1 million people to attempt to quit smoking since 2012 and is the biggest mass quit attempt in the country.
The campaign is based on research that shows that people who can stop smoking for 28-days are five times more likely to stop smoking for good. It encourages as many smokers as possible to prepare to quit smoking from 1st October by providing a range of free resources, including:
- Stoptober app – which shows people how much money they’re saving and has distractions to help them when they get a craving.
- Email support – a daily email with advice, tips and motivation.
- Community support – including social media groups and access to online support and messaging services.
Launched in 2012, Stoptober is now positioned within the wider One You programme. One You is a programme from PHE that helps adults across the England make changes to their lifestyles that can have a big impact on their health in the future.
Support the Stoptober campaign
To help support this year’s Stoptober campaign, we have added a range of videos to our Envisage Media App. This includes the official Stoptober advert and a range of other resources to encourage patients to sign up to the campaign. All of these can be added to the system easily and are included as part of the Envisage service.
Waiting room TV is a great way of engaging with your patients in the and is far more effective than posters and leaflets that are usually found in waiting rooms.
If you are an existing user of our Envisage system and would like help adding the new Stoptober content to your Envisage system then please visit our dedicated support section. Alternatively, you can contact our support team on 0114 399 0010, or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
