The flu vaccination for 2018/2019 is now available to help protect adults and children at risk of flu and its complications. The vaccine is routinely available on the NHS to:
- adults 65 and over (including adults over 18 at risk of flu)
- pregnant women
- children aged 2 and 3
- children in reception class and school years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
- children aged 2 to 17 years at risk of flu
Flu vaccination uptake has been steadily increasing over the last few years. For patients aged 65 years and over, uptake increased to 72.6% in 2018/2018, compared to 70.5% in 2016 to 2017. For younger patients (aged between 6 months and under 65 years) in one or more clinical at-risk group the uptake was 48.9%, compared to 48.6% in 2016 to 2017.
It is vital that GP practice promote the availability of the flu vaccination to their patients to ensure that this uptake continues to increase. It is likely that many of the patients who routinely visit your GP surgery are also eligible for the flu vaccine and using this content can help to make them aware of its availability.
One way to do this is to use the range of flu vaccination videos available on the Envisage waiting room TV system while patients wait for their appointment. There are videos available on the Envisage media library to promote both the flu vaccination and child flu nasal vaccination in your waiting room.
If you get any problems adding the flu vaccination video to your system then please visit our dedicated support section, or contact our technical support team on 0114 399 0010, or email email@example.com.
